I'll start out this post by apologizing for not really being present for about the past couple of weeks, but as the summer comes to a close, so did work! So for the first week of August, I was sent on an AMAZING trip down the Wisconsin River for work (I worked as a lifeguard at a summer camp), so I couldn't really work with Neeco while I was paddling down the Wisconsin River with a couple of teenagers. It was an amazing time and I'm so glad I was able to go on it. Then the next week, I was sent to be a counselor at another nearby camp, so by the time I got home I was so tired and often times would eat and then go to bed. However, last week was finally my last week of working, so this week I have finally had time to work with Neeco! Since I don't have any pictures of Neeco's adventure yesterday, I will just post some pictures from the Wisconsin River Trip that I did and some of my own dog because I have been working with her a lot lately and taking her on LONG walks and hikes - something I've wanted to do all summer, but just haven't been able to do with work! So enough about me and my life and what I have been up to for the past couple of weeks! Today, I went on a date with my best friend to go see the new dog movie, Alpha. Of course, I was like I should bring Neeco along - I didn't really think this one all the way through (bringing a dog to a dog movie), but by the time I realized it, it was too late. That's okay though, I made it work! Before we got to the movie, we went to Noodle's and Company, in which he was a perfect gent and laid down while we were eating and talking. When we got to the movie theater, there were no two seats right next to each other, only a seat and a place for a wheelchair. However, I already knew that I probably would spend most of the movie managing and paying attention to Neeco, so I just asked for that spot and got comfy on the floor next to Neeco. We settled in for the movie and he fell asleep part way through the previews, which was good and completely unexpected. He then continued to sleep until the dog whined on the movie screen, which he perked up for. But then as soon as I got his attention, I had it for the rest of the movie and he didn't cause as many problems as I was expecting! He was truly a gent and did so well at the movie, I was super proud of him. He listened to me and didn't bark or make any noises at the movie screen.
During the summer, I work as the head lifeguard at a Girl Scout camp and this week happens to be my favorite day camp week that comes through our camp. The camp directors of the camp invited me out to dinner with them and I feel like I haven't worked with Neeco a lot lately, so I was like sure! Can I bring a dog with? They all responded with Of course. So I took him to dinner with me and the directors, in which they had margaritas. He handled intoxicated, excited young adults very well, they loved seeing all the tricks he did and loved asking me questions about what he does and how do I train different things on their dogs. Afterwards, we went to Culver's to get ice cream and he did really well there, I had him pay for the ice cream even though I got weird looks from people, but he did really well and didn't even try to chew my credit card. He is doing so well this summer and I am so excited to go back in a month to work with a new dog! He handled the excitement really well and I am super proud of him!
