Ever since Neeco left me on Thursday, I've been thinking about the lessons I have learned from him this semester. It was definitely harder than in semesters past because there wasn't a whole lot that we had to work on, but I have come up with a few.
It was such an honor to work with him this semester and we worked through so much together that I was grateful that I was partnered with him! His progress from last fall to now has been astounding and I love seeing the whole process from puppyhood to ALMOST placement. I look forward to seeing where the future will take him.

Today was the last class of the semester, which made me sad. Instead of teaching us and overloading our brains during this stressful week of lab finals and studying for finals next week, Maddie came up with a wonderful plan. First, we went thrift shopping with the dogs, I found some cute sweatshirts and a book or two, but I didn't end up buying anything. Then, as a group, we went to this local place called Mei Mei's, where they sell ice cream and cookie dough, so I got a cookie dough sandwich, which I could barely finish because right before that, all of the seniors who had senior seminar went to Bx for dinner. It was so good, but I was so full at the end of it. We then walked back to class, where we all received end of the semester gifts! We got wristbands to house a clicker (mine was just in my treat pouch), a poop bag roll, and a picture frame of our teams this year! It was so cute and I was so grateful. My first partner and now roommate, Ashley, also got a graduation present of cords with all of the dogs that she trained on it! We then moved on to high's and low's of the semester, during which I started to cuddle with Ganther, but then Neeco got jealous, so I had him come over by me too! I honestly loved it so much! After all of that, we played some fun games with our dogs! It was a good way to end the semester!
I also had some free time today because I didn't work for 3 hours before the meeting, so one of the other interns took pictures of me and some of the other interns!! Life is like diabetic alert scent samples, sometimes there's highs and sometimes there's lows.
I am still shocked by how quickly he picked up on doing the sequence for the high samples!! I took a video of him doing it during class yesterday and today, he did it at the hockey game too. I love how I can tell that he loves the work because the other day, he sniffed my shoe where I normally have the scent and he tried to alert me to the scent then even though it was a few days old. I love how quickly he has picked up on cues and alerting! He's such a smart cookie!
