Yesterday, some of the other ADEPTers and I had the amazing opportunity to go see Temple Grandin speak in Madison. It was an absolutely amazing opportunity and event presented to us by Dr. Vogel at our school who studied underneath her for his PhD in Animal Welfare. Ganther, Ashley (my partner from last year), and I head down by ourselves. When we arrived, Ganther was so excited to finally be out of the car! We then went to the campus and went to the Babcock Hall Dairy Store to get some ice cream. He paid for Ashley's ice cream, which made the workers so excited. We then ate our ice cream and I had to run to get the book for the book signing. We went into the Stock Pavilion and it was absolutely amazing watching her speak and then after the presentation, we went to get our books signed. He did really well the entire time. I thought there would be more people in the Pavilion, so I was a little surprised that there was still room for more people to come. A lot of people were disappointed that they couldn't pet Ganther because we're putting him on a "people diet" to help him with being calm while greeting people. After, we went out for dinner and headed back up to school. It was a long day (total of 8 hour drive), so by the time we got back to the house, the dogs were exhausted and even today, Ganther has been dragging his feet! He has slept so much today, the lucky dog, but I am so glad that both him and I have gotten this experience!
