Above is a quote that Dianne said during the meeting today when we were working on scent detection on people. Dianne and Maddie might have had scents on them, but we didn't know who or if they did so we just walked past them seeing if our dogs would cue into the scent and Ganther decided that he didn't feel like smelling anything, but instead just wanted to cuddle Dianne.
This week, Linda brought in the 4 new puppies that we got! So we split the group in half, so half of us worked with the adult dogs on diabetic alert detection while the other half went and learned about puppy socialization, training, and other puppy things with Linda. Batman and I had to leave quickly to talk about the program to a club, so we missed a little bit of puppy time. When we came back the puppies were so tired they were sleeping and they also slept for the next group that came in. When we switched, we worked on diabetic scent detection using games with the dogs and discerning whether or not there's a sample on someone. I worked with Finley during this time because Maddie was running this part of the class. We then worked on discerning of colors with them too, Finley was really good at this! To end off the class, we looked at client samples and things that we have to consider for the dogs and placement.
